RGB / CMYK

RGB stands for red green and blue and is the format for video monitors, projection, web images and most digital photography. RGB is an additive colour space which means you add the red green and blue light to your black monitor to get all the colours, the more light you get the whiter things get. RGB values are expressed as numbers between 0 and 255 for 256 possible values for each colour. In theory that means there are 16,177,216 with the RGB model.

CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Black is the key, because it's used to register the other colours in the CYMK printing. CYMK is the colour module for conventional offset and some modern digital printing. CYMK values are expressed in percentages. For example 0,0,0,0 is white leaving the paper white when printed.
